February 2013

Stanford, California

In February 2013, a joint workshop was held to explore how intellectual property issues are affecting clean energy innovation and investment between the United States and China. The event focused on the real-world experiences of companies and researchers from the two countries trying to reconcile intellectual property questions as they negotiate clean energy deals. In addition, the workshop explored current legal thinking on intellectual property as it concerns the clean energy industry in both countries. The workshop also updated attendees about the CERC IP Toolkit and the CERC Energy and IP Experts Group, which met for the first time alongside the workshop.

The workshop was organized by Stanford University’s Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy and Finance, the U.S.-China Clean Energy Forum, and the China Science & Technology Exchange Center, in association with the U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center.
